The Cloud Howe Ceilidh Band - An Introduction

The Cloud Howe Ceilidh Band are well respected on the Scottish ceilidh scene. Since the band's formation in 1991, Cloud Howe have notched up over 700 dances in Scotland and England from Carlisle to Kirkwall and from St. Andrews to Tarbert. They have played in all sorts of venues -ranging from small village halls to vast conference centres and prestigious function hotels - and for all kinds of events, including Celtic Connections. See just some of the places where the band has played!

All of the members of Cloud Howe are experienced musicians in their own right. They come from diverse musical backgrounds and have a real love of traditional dance music. Their music is professional, lively, driving, and downright danceable. If required the band can be expanded to 5 musicians for an even bigger sound on a special occasion.

Cloud Howe is equally at home encouraging reluctant novice dancers on to a dance floor and entertaining huge crowds of 'up for it' ceilidh Junkies. The band's calling and instruction can help even the most inexperienced and reluctant of dancers to find their dancing feet.

As well as the more well known Gay Gordons, Strip the Willow, and
Dashing White Sergeant, Cloud Howe have a wide repertoire of some
less familiar dances which are called in a confident but relaxed way.
